My favorite part of the day was...

-Playing with my friends at recess
-Playing Sr. Lobo during P.E with Srta. Houde's class.
-Learning about the letter D
-Feeding "pip" el monstro images and words that began with the vocale E.

Sept 12-16: Weekly Learning Journey

Hola hola!

This week we ...

Spanish:
-Continued practicing classroom phrases: 

  • ¿Cómo se dice _____ en español?
  • ¿Puedo ir al baño por favor?
  • ¿Puedo ir a tomar agua por favor?
  • Ayuda por favor
  • Gracias / De nada
  • ¿Listos? ¡Listos!

-Learned about las vocales   

-Created a mini book "Así soy yo" where we drew our self-portraits and practiced the phrases: 

  • Me llamo ________.
  • Tengo ___ años.
  • Me gusta ________. (color) 

Math: 
-Practiced counting from 0-20
-Represented the number of the day in different ways
-Played number BINGO!
-Played "Pañuelito" outside and practiced our numbers 1-10.

English: 
-Learned about the letters P, D, and T. 
-Practiced printing the letters on our sky line, bird line, grass line, and dirt lines. (We discovered which letters enjoy playing in the dirt line, and which prefer to stay above the grass line.)

Science:
-Learned about the primary colors. 

Social studies: 
-We are finishing up our "Bag About me" presentations (We have really enjoyed these!).
-Started our "My Community" posters. 

P.E and Wellness:
-We learned about Terry Fox and the impact he has on Canadians. We also began to practice our Terry Fox run. 

Reminders:
-Please return the signed "Acknowledgment Risk" and the "Swimming Ability" form by no later than September 29, 2022.

My favorite part of the day was…
-Music
-Presenting bag about me 
-Math: Representing the number of the day in different ways
-Picking out books during our library time
-Spanish: Learning about la vocale “e” 
-Physical Education: Playing bridge tag and Rhythm Master
-Reading in the library 
-Playing at the park

Note:
Swimming forms went home today in their blue library bags. Please fill them out and return them with your child. Fees are posted on your CBE account.

We had our first library day today. They picked out one book in Spanish and the other in English. There is information below for overdue books. We will be having library every Thursday.

-Getting to present my bag about me

-Listening to the "bag about me" presentations

-Playing the math game "Pañuelo" outside

-Reading the story "Billy Bully"

-Practicing our entry and exits for assembly

-Playing basketball with my friends outside

I will be checking emails after school between: 4:00pm - 4:30pm.

Reminders:
Terry Fox Donation sheets went home this week. Please donate online, there is a QR code on the donation sheet. We did an excellent job raising fund for this worthy cause last year and we want to continue to support Terry Fox organization.

What a fun day in grado uno! Below are some of our favorite parts of the day: 

-Getting to learn about Srta. Carcamo with her "about me" bag

-The story we read: My Mouth is a Volcano 

-Coloring and decorating our about me bags

-Playing at the park during recess

-Seeing Srta. Carcamo

-Fun Lunch

Reminder: 

Bag About Me
Students are to fill the bag with 4 things they can use to tell the class about themselves. (Only four things, no more, no less). All their objects have to fit in the bag!

Srta. Carcamo's examples: 
-A letter from a previous student
-A pencil sharpener in the shape of un gato
-An old passport
-A dance award

September 2 2022

Hola hola!

This week we learned about...

Spanish: 
-How to introduce ourselves "Yo me llamo____", 
-A few classroom commands
-Some classroom supplies we use daily 

English: 
-We read two books: First Day Jitters & Our Class is a Family 
-We drew a portrait of ourselves on the first day of first grade and also a portrait of our families. 

Morning routine: 
We have started to practice our morning routine during soft entry. We practiced how to use our mood board, where to leave our water bottles, how to sanitize, and how to choose a morning tub. When the bell rang we practiced how to clean up to get ready for the day. 

We did a fantastic job practicing our hallway etiquette using "el coyote callado" today on our way to our first clase de música. 

Fire drill: 
We have been talking about what fire drills are and why they happen. We have started to practice our fire drill procedures.

There is no school on Monday, September 5th. Happy long weekend!
