Nov 7 - 10 Weekly Learning Journey

Hola families! Here is our weekly learning journey.

Spanish:
-We started working with our Mochilas for oral Spanish. 
-We've been practicing describing what we see in the fall using color, size and quantity.
Ask me: What do you do with the "mochilas"
(backpacks) every morning

Math: 
-Skip counting by 2s to 20, 5s and 10s to 100. 
-Represented the number of the day in different ways.
-We conducted a class survey about preferred seasons and animals.

English:
-Letters and sounds: j, w, h, wh, i 
-Sight words: not, all, were, we, when
-
We are using the sight words to write sentences.
-We are practicing using our letter sound knowledge to write sentences.
-We are practicing where to include capital letters, lowercase letters, spaces and periods in our sentences.

Social studies:
-We started our "About my School posters"
-We will continue to research about Dalhousie School.
Ask me: What are some ways children around the world get to school?


Art:
-We created a field of poppies with a gradient blue sky. 



Indoor recess creations:




Note:
-We will be starting the Sound Kreations Dance program on Monday. 
Our students will be participating in a program called CubaNYC where a Spanish speaking instructor will focus on teaching the students hip hop and Latin street dance moves. Please return the signed form before Monday. (You can also scan a signed copy of it as well if you weren't able to return it this week)

-Parent conferences will be held on November 24th and 25th. Be sure to book a time slot by Nov 17th.

-
The Veterans Food Drive will be open until the end of the week.

-Dalhousie will be hosting a Scholastic book fair with a virtual and in-person option.  The virtual fair will be active from November 18  – November 28, 2022 inclusive. Please check out the virtual link to preview and explore the digital flyer!  Students will also be able to purchase books and other items (posters/stationary etc.) in school. We will be doing a preview for each class and then the following week students will be allowed to purchase items using cash. Previews will be held November 15, 16, 17, and purchasing will occur November 22, 23, 24.   Additionally, the book fair will be open for all families on November 24 from 5pm to 8pm to coincide with conferences.  You do not need to have a conference that evening to visit the book fair.
